When designer Laïla B. Potvin left her hometown of Québec City to study the business of fashion in Vancouver, she was unexpectedly faced with its unglamorous side. It was undeniable how the industry at large was not only damaging to the garment workers, but destructive to our environment. She could not see herself working in a field that did not align with her values, so she decided to pursue a different career path.
A few years later, fresh inspiration for a new way of operating within the fashion industry hit her, and thus, she returned to explore her original dream. It was in 2017 that she founded Harly Jae - a way for her to contribute to the future of fashion in a meaningful way. Harly Jae's vision was to change the fashion industry for the better by using sustainable fabrics and practices along with ethical manufacturing.
